Aspen Glen Picnic Area

One of my favorite places, great access to all the trails on the South Shore Network in Big Bear

We went on an excursion which included a picnic with an incredible view. We were not disappointed, it was breathtaking the host was so sweet & the food was a cheese/fruit plate she offered drinks but we opted to bring some wine. I’d buy it again.😊

Went here for a trail that starts at the Aspen Glen picnic area and ends at a point called Grand View Point. The whole trail was almost 6.5 miles, 3.25 miles one way to the Grand View Point. There are a few spots during the hike that have a really good view of the Big Bear Lake and mountains. Trail rating is medium. Not too steep and not too difficult. Do carry enough water along as there is no water available on the whole trail. Come prepared for the snow and low temperatures during winter. It's slippery on the snow in winters and a good grip sports shoes are recommended. Parking is sufficient at the picnic area and the whole picnic area and trail looked clean and well maintained. The trail is also sufficiently marked and it's easy to follow without getting lost. Pets are allowed at the picnic area as well as on the trail......!!!

Nice hike once you leave the picnic area. The Signs are a little space, so take a visitors map from the hotel or wherever. We hiked in fog and snow so didn't see any views, but they appeared to nice on a clear day.

Lovely little spot for a pick and a good start to a fun hike. Have to say there was a lot of littering around the parking areas, not a good look
